Residents are being invited to a special event at Ely Cathedral to showcase what local organisations are doing to help keep communities safe. 

The evening event is being hosted by Community Safety Partnership (CSP) – which is made up from local councils, police, fire, NHS and other local organisations – on Monday 13 March. 

Residents who apply for a free ticket, on a first come, first served basis, will also be given the opportunity to submit questions in advance about the Community Safety Partnership to Cambridgeshire Police Chief Inspector, Paul Rogerson. 

The event will feature a number of presentations to share what organisations are doing to help keep the public safe and support wellbeing. 

They include a presentation on SisterSafe, which offers free self-defence classes for women and a talk on drink spiking from the Stamp Out Spiking Campaign. 

Harriet Sugg, Community Safety Support and Anti-Social Behaviour Officer for the CSP and Lizzie Wales, the County Council’s Youth and Community Co-ordinator for East Cambs will give a presentation on the CSPs ever popular court experience days for students. 

Talks will also be given by Sergeant Mat Lupton-Pike from East Cambs neighbourhood policing team and Frances West, substance misuse coach from Ely Primary Care.

Lis Every who chairs the Community Safety Partnership and is an East Cambridgeshire District Councillor, said: “This is the first time we have brought so many organisations involved in community safety together literally under one roof. It will be a fantastic opportunity to find out more about what each individual organisation does and to share new ideas. We are also very grateful to Chief Inspector Paul Rogerson who is adding his support to the evening and I would encourage anyone who has a question about the Community Safety Partnership to submit it online in advance.” 

The event is on Monday 13 March from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, in the Lady Chapel of Ely Cathedral. Free tickets are available on a first come, first served basis and can be booked via Eventbrite.
