Elections held in East Cambridgeshire

East Cambridgeshire District Council 

Held every four years to elect the whole District Council. 

Next election of whole Council: May 2027. 

Parish Councils 

Held every four years alongside the District Council Elections to elect the Parish Councillors for the parishes in East Cambridgeshire. 

Next elections: May 2027 

Cambridgeshire Police & Crime Commissioners 

Held every four years to help elect the Police & Crime Commissioner for the whole of Cambridgeshire. 

Next election 2 May 2024.

Cambridgeshire County Council 

Held every four years, between District Council elections, to elect the eight County Councillors covering East Cambridgeshire. 

Next election due May 2025. 

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority Mayor 

Held every four years to help elect the Mayor for the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. 

​Next election due May 2025.  

United Kingdom Parliament 

Held every five years to help elect two Members of Parliament who have their constituencies covering East Cambridgeshire. 

Next elections due 2024. 

By-elections 

Occasionally by-elections are held, usually for the District or County Councils, when a Councillor leaves his/her position for whatever reason. These are one-off elections and only apply to an individual ward/division where an election is held to replace the person vacating their position as a Councillor.
