With towns and cities across the country gearing up to welcome visitors during the Easter holidays, anyone coming to Ely is reminded that parking is free in the city centre.
With the spectacular Cathedral, great independent shops and markets plus a beautiful riverside, Ely draws a huge number of people to visit during the school holidays.
With nearly 1,000 free car parking spaces in the city centre, there are plenty of spaces for visitors to Ely to make use of.
Councillor Bill Hunt, Chairman of Asset Development Committee at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “In recent weeks, the national news has discussed the problems which people have with parking – whether it is fines or charges. In Ely, we are proud that our city centre has free car parking spaces which anyone can use. We know how vitally important it is to support our local shops, markets, cafes and tourist attractions - by providing free parking we are saying to visitors that you are welcome in our city. So whatever your plans are for the Easter – make time to come to Ely and enjoy what we have to offer.”
