East Cambridgeshire District Council has launched a consultation into planned updates to its health and safety enforcement policy.

 

The policy changes are being made in line with the Health and Safety Executive which has made improvements to its guidelines to include the General Data Protection rules that came into force this year.

 

Officers are appointed by East Cambridgeshire District Council to enforce health and safety legislation across a range of activities and workplaces. The aim of regulation in the district is to protect the health, safety and welfare of people at work and to safeguard others, including the public, who may be affected by work activities.

 

The consultation is available for input via the Council website until midnight on 21st September 2018.

 

Liz Knox, Environmental Services Manager at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “Whenever the Council makes changes to policies which affect the general public we like to invite people to come forward and have their say. If health and safety enforcement is an area in which you’d like to express your interest, do visit the website and send us your thoughts.”

 

The Council's Health and Safety Enforcement Policy sets out its approach to enforcement, that is, where its officers take action to enforce the law when issues of non-compliance, hazard or serious risk have been identified.
