On Thursday 12 January East Cambridgeshire District Council will be launching their second public consultation to hear your views on their draft Local Plan for the district.

The Further Draft Local Plan has been prepared following a review of the existing 2015 Local Plan and comments received during the initial consultation of Preliminary Draft Local Plan in February 2016. In addition, and unlike the Preliminary Draft, the Further Draft also sets out a series of maps with the Council’s preferred housing and employment allocations to meet the plan’s growth targets.

The plan identifies a requirement for 11,400 new dwellings and 6,900 new jobs and is the second consultation stage out of three planned by the Council. The third and final consultation will take place in Summer 2017.

The online consultation portal will go live on the Council’s website on 12 January for six weeks, where you can feedback your thoughts on the plan. The Council will also accept feedback from residents by letter or email.

Councillor Coralie Green, Service Delivery Champion for Strategic Planning at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “We have listened to the feedback and thoughts of our residents and now want to seek their views on the newest version of the plan.

“This is an important document which will determine what East Cambridgeshire will look like in the future and how it will become an even better place to live, work and visit. I would encourage residents to take this opportunity to read the plan and let us know their thoughts.”

The Further Draft Local Plan can be viewed on the East Cambridgeshire District Council website, within reception at the Council’s offices in Ely and at local libraries in the district.
