East Cambridgeshire District Council’s trading company, East Cambs Street Scene (ECSS) will be changing waste collection days on a temporary basis over the Easter and May bank holiday weekends.

All residents will have their waste collected earlier than usual ahead of the Easter weekend.

The first earlier collections will take place on Saturday, March 27, instead of Monday, March 29.

Councillor David Ambrose-Smith, Chairman of the Operational Services Committee, said:

“We are incredibly grateful to East Cambs Street Scene for the fantastic job they do of collecting waste from across the district, even more so in such testing times.

“Our frontline workers deserve to rest and enjoy these longer weekends which means waste collections need to be temporarily changed.”

Councillor Julia Huffer, Member Champion for waste and recycling said:

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our residents for their continued effort in household waste reduction and recycling at a time in which we are all spending much more time at home.

“I would encourage residents to continue this push over the Easter and May bank holiday weekends, recycling hard packaging from Easter eggs and gifts and placing food waste into green bins for composting.”

Plastic containers, tins and bottles should all be washed out before being placed into blue bins for recycling.

Bins and black sacks must be outside residents’ properties for collection by 7am on the day of collection and not before 6pm the day before.

Residents can find details of their bin dates using the ‘Find your collection day’ tool on East Cambridgeshire District Council’s website.
