Ely Markets’ Celebration of Summer is an exciting four-day event over the August bank holiday. The weekend starts with their Summer Late on Friday 23 August, which is followed by three days of fun on the Market Place.
“This bank holiday weekend Ely Markets is celebrating all the joys of late summer,” says Emma Grima, commercial director at East Cambridgeshire District Council. “We’ll be gathering together everything you love about our summer markets for one special long weekend. You can expect vibrant street food and relaxed family fun, plus the best local produce, crafts and vintage shopping.”
The first event of the weekend is the Summer Late on Friday afternoon. There will be lots of delicious street food to try – everything from smoked pulled pork and Mexican food to delicious chimney cakes and brownies. Visitors can also browse stalls from local independent traders and craftspeople. The event starts at 4pm in the Market Place and carries on until 9.30pm.
“Our Summer Lates are laid back and relaxed,” says Emma. “Enjoy the last of the summer weather before the kids go back to school, get some delicious food and soak up the atmosphere. Browse the craft and gift stalls, then try the amazing street food we’ve got lined up!”
On Saturday 24 August it’ll be another busy day in the Market Place with the Farmers’ Market and a huge selection of craft, vintage and food stalls. Then on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday there will be two special markets with fun for all the family – including kids’ rides and a hog roast.
“We already have a fabulous selection of food and gifts every week, and this bank holiday our extra markets will give you even more choice than ever,” explains Emma. “Whether it’s beautiful gifts, yummy street food or kids’ rides and fun, we know you’ll find something that’ll make you smile. And don’t forget, you can park all day for free in Ely!”
