Submit a planning application

Apply for planning permission via the Planning Portal.

Before you submit a planning application we strongly recommend that you use our pre-application advice service.

By the point of submitting an application you will know what type of application you will be making.  

You will have detailed drawings and any other supporting documents you need as detailed on our check you have the right documents available page.

You will also know what fee you need to pay and how to pay it.

We strongly recommend that you submit your application online using the Planning Portal website. All of the information and guidance that you will need to submit your application is available there.

To take advantage of the Deemed Discharge Procedure it is necessary to submit a Deemed Consent of Discharge Notice.  

Such notice can be served 6 weeks after receipt of the Condition Discharge Application by the Local Authority.  


Temporary (Flexible) Change of Use Notification

Application to notify us of the intent to implement temporary three year change of use under Class D of Part 4 of Schedule 2 (Temporary Buildings and Uses) of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015.


Modification or discharge of a planning obligation

Planning obligations can be renegotiated at any point, where the local planning authority and developer wish to do so.  

Where there is no agreement to voluntarily renegotiate, and the planning obligation is over five years old, an application may be made to the local planning authority to change the obligation where it no longer serves a useful purpose or would continue to serve a useful purpose in a modified way. 


Serve notice on individuals

As part of your application you may need to serve notice on individuals, if Certificate B or C is completed and owners are known please use Notice 1.   


Householder notice

If you are submitting a householder application please use the Householder notice.  If Certificate C or D is completed and the owners are unknown please complete Notice 2 and publish in the local paper.
