Food waste

If you live in a flat or receive a communal collection you are entitled to:

  • kitchen caddy. This is the ideal size to pop in any food waste such as banana skins, food scrapings, vegetable peelings or bones and can be easily stored out of sight under your kitchen sink.
  • larger caddy to transfer food waste into for collection each week. This has a lockable lid to prevent spills or animals getting into.

We’ve also given you a year’s supply of caddy liners to start. Use these - or any other kind of bag - to line your smaller kitchen caddy. When the caddy is full, or in time for your collection day, tie the bag up, remove it from the kitchen caddy and put it in the larger caddy, or into your new shared green-lidded food bin. This will be collected every week.

More information on food waste is available in our what we collect guide.

Recycling

Please use your large communal blue lidded bin for recycling. This is collected every two weeks. For more information about what to put in your blue-lidded recycling bin, including soft plastics, please see our recycling bins page.

General waste

Anything that cannot be recycled need to be added to your general waste bin. For a list of items that can go in this bin please visit our Rubbish bins page

Large or bulky waste

Donate items in good condition to charity – some charities offer a free collection.

Check with your managing agent to see if they provide a collection service.

Take items to your local Recycling Centre.

We offer a chargeable collection service for large items if there’s a suitable place outside your property

Do not dump large items in bin stores – this blocks access and causes issues for collections.

Important information

Use your bins correctly - to ensure your bins are emptied, only put the correct items in the correct bin

If you notice shared bins contain incorrect items and can safely move them, please place them in the right bin

If your bin is missed, report it by the end of the next working day. you can also check with your managing agent, as they may already have been notified of any issues
