We're continuing to collect your rubbish, recycling and food waste over the Christmas and New Year period, but some collection days will change.
Please put your containers out by 6.30am on your collection day.

Garden waste collections paused over winter
Now that food waste is collected separately each week, our free garden waste collection service will take a short winter break from 7 December 2026 to 16 January 2027.
There is typically much less garden waste produced at this time of year. Pausing the service also helps free up crews and vehicles to support refuse, recycling and food waste collections during the busy Christmas and New Year period.
Please continue to use your food waste caddy as normal. Food waste collections will continue every week throughout the winter.
If you have a real Christmas tree, you can either keep it for us to collect for composting when garden waste collections resume, or take it to Witchford Household Recycling Centre. Christmas trees presented during the suspension period will not be collected.
Other garden waste can also be taken to Witchford Household Recycling Centre while the service is paused.
Garden waste collections will return to their normal schedule from Monday 18 January 2027. If you're putting out a Christmas tree for collection, please make sure all decorations, lights, stands and plant pots have been removed.

Extra recycling at Christmas
We know many households have extra recycling over the festive period. Any additional recycling can be presented alongside your recycling bin in either:
- a clear plastic bag (so crews can see it contains recycling only), or
- a small cardboard box that is easy for crews to handle and empty. Please note the cardboard box will also be collected
For large cardboard boxes, please flatten them and either:
- cut them down to fit inside your recycling bin where possible, or
- place them flattened next to your recycling bin for collection if there is no room in the bin
