Your bins and what we collect

Overview

From June 2026 we’re bringing in a new service designed to help you reduce waste and recycle more. It includes introducing a weekly food waste collection and replacing black sack collections with wheeled bins. 

It is better for you, it is better for East Cambridgeshire and it is better for the environment.

This guide explains more about each bin and list what can and cannot go into your food caddies, black bins, blue lidded bins and green lidded bins.

Waste and recycling look up 

Use this lookup tool to find out what goes in your rubbish bin, recycling bin, garden waste bin, or food caddy. Simply type the name of the item you want to recycle or dispose of into the search box, and the tool will tell you which bin it should go in, or whether it needs to be taken to your local Household Recycling Centre.
