Breakdown of children in homeless applications

  • How many homeless applications have you received involving a child
    • Of this number, please include a breakdown by age brackets of the child(ren)
    • Of these, what percentage were found to be owed a duty, and how many were sent away without any intervention by your council
      • Of those sent away without intervention from your council, how many referrals were made to children’s services 
      • Of the households not found to meet the criteria for homelessness assistance, how many children and/or families were accommodated by children's services
    • How does this number compare to the overall number of homeless applications
    • How many of this number involved a child with a disability and/or chronic illness 
  • How many homeless applications involving children were categorised as priority need
    • Of this number, please include a breakdown by age brackets of the child
  • What is the breakdown of temporary accommodation type for applications involving children
    • How does this compare to a breakdown of temporary accommodation type for applications not involving children 
  •  Of the number of homeless applications involving a child, how many involved a lack of clarity on which authority owed a duty to accommodate
    • Of that number, how many children and/or families were provided interim accommodation whilst inquiries were made/disputes resolved 
  • Any data/information you hold on any child under the age of 18 who is sleeping rough within your geographical area
    • Of this number, how many are Looked After Children, or had previous or ongoing social service intervention
    • What your council's policies are regarding children who are sleeping rough 
    • What, if any, are your procedures for verifying child rough sleepers, how this compares to verifying adult rough sleepers, and if this varies depending on the age of the child
  • How many homeless applications have you received from or regarding a Looked After Child, Care Leaver (up to the ages of 21 and up to the age of 25) or any Care Experienced person (of any age)

    • How long is the average, shortest and longest length of homelessness for applications involving Looked After Children, Care Leavers and Care Experienced people, by age bracket
      • How does this compare for applications involving non-Care Experienced people
    • How many Looked After Children, Care Leavers and Care Experienced people have been sleeping rough within your geographical area, including age brackets
  • If any children who were homeless, or had previous experience of homelessness during their childhood, died 
  • What your council's policy is in relation to families and child(ren) at risk of homelessness, or are homeless

  • How long is the average, shortest and longest length of homelessness for applications involving children

  • What types of accommodations/tenancies do homeless households with children move on to, following homelessness

  • How many people within your council's geographical area became homeless after move-on from asylum accommodation, and what percentage this is in relation to all people after move-on asylum accommodation
  • What is your council's policy in relation to this 
  • How many children are living in asylum accommodation within your council's geographical area

  • The move-on period for refugees who are pregnant, or have children living with them, in accommodation
