Complaints and actions re Private Sector Housing since 2023

Request  received 18 November 2025:

I would like to make the following request under FOIA:
All questions apply to calendar years of 2023, 2024 and 2025:
1. How many households in private rented properties have approached the council to report disrepair in their homes?
2. How many inspections have been completed in private rented properties by the council?
3. How many enforcement/improvement notices have been served by the council because of these inspections?
4. Were any demolition orders made by the council subsequently because of these investigations?
5. Does the council have any further comments to make regarding these figures?

5. We receive many complaints of disrepair from tenants in the RSL sector. We address these in the same way as a PRS complaint, once the tenant can demonstrate they have properly informed their RSL of the issues and that satisfactory progress has not been made. Investigations and inspections are undertaken but have not been included in the above figures.
