Bird flu confirmed case near Ely

Following a confirmed case of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) near Ely, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) have now put in place a 3km Protection Zone and 10km Surveillance Zone to try to stop the further spread of the disease.

Three councils back case for two new unitaries: Greater Cambridge with North Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

Three Cambridgeshire councils have now backed the creation of a new unitary Council for Greater Cambridge and another for North Cambridgeshire and Peterborough - with local leaders saying they offer financial security, deliver up to £43 million savings a year and respect local identities.

The market has been at the heart of Ely community life for over 800 years.
There are three main markets a week on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday – plus a Farmers’ Market twice a month and Mini-Markets every Friday. Everyone is welcome and thousands of people visit our stalls every week.
