The environment and places we live and visit can help encourage people to lead more physically active and healthy lives.
We are committed to supporting our residents and visitors in support of active environments.
Play and open spaces
Our play and open spaces pages provide details of parks and other outdoor activity areas in East Cambridgeshire.
Play and open spaces strategies
These documents explain how we will make outdoor play spaces more inclusive and accessible for all children and young people. They follow the Accessible Play Motion agreed in May 2024 and are based on independent reviews of Council and parish playgrounds carried out by PiPA Play in 2025.
The Inclusive Playground Strategy explains the process undertaken by the Council to receive inclusive play audits on the play areas it manages, a summary of the audit findings and sets out the actions the Council will take to improve both new and existing playgrounds.
The Inclusive Playground Toolkit is intended to support local councils, developers, housing associations and other playground and open space providers to develop and upgrade accessible play spaces. The toolkit provides practical help and advice and identifies potential funding sources. This toolkit will be shared with partners to support inclusive playgrounds across the district.
