A fun and free Youth Fusion event will be taking place at The Recreation Ground, Sutton, on Wednesday 19 August 2026.

The drop-in event, which last year attracted hundreds of young people, is returning to the district once again, due to popular demand.

Youth Fusion events provide a unique opportunity for young people aged 5 to 18 to try their hand at sporting activities with clubs operating locally and find out more about organisations offering support and advice.

There will be opportunities to scramble up a climbing wall, take part in a street art workshop, have a go at multi sports, and receive first aid training.

You can also try your hand at korfball, basketball, have a workout at a mobile gym or find out more about what you can do to help reduce waste and increase recycling, plus the police will be offering bike security marking on the day.

On a more serious note, the Community Safety Partnership will be there offering age-appropriate advice on things like knife crime, anti-social behaviour and safeguarding. There will also be relationship and sexual health advice from Dhiverse and Living Better and advice on vaping.

Cllr Julia Huffer, Chair of the Operational Services Committee, said: “The Youth Fusion events have proven to be very popular with young people across the district. They offer a fantastic opportunity to try something new, speak to clubs in their local area, and to ask and receive honest answers to those hard questions.”

“We would encourage our young people to attend the event at Sutton and have a free, fun packed day.”

The Youth Fusion event will be held between 11am and 3pm. The site is fully accessible, and attendees are advised to take their own water bottles for refills on the day. Limited parking is available.

The events are being supported by a diverse range of organisations including East Cambridgeshire District Council, Sutton Parish Council, Cambridgeshire Constabulary and East Cambridgeshire Community Safety Partnership.
