Youth Fusion rounds off the summer in Isleham

Fun and free activities will be taking place at The Beeches, Isleham, this Thursday, 21 August.

The Youth Fusion events, which have attracted hundreds of young people at previous locations, returned to East Cambs this summer due to popular demand.

The event will provide a unique opportunity for young people from Isleham, Fordham and the surrounding area to try their hand at activities and find out more about organisations offering support and advice in their local area.

There will be opportunities to scramble up a climbing wall, take part in a street art workshop, meet the fire service and receive first aid training, have a workout at a mobile gym, or try some new sports.

On a more serious note, the Community Safety Partnership will be there offering age-appropriate advice on things like knife crime, anti-social behaviour and safeguarding. There will also be relationship and sexual health advice from Dhiverse and Everyone Health.

Plus, you can find out what you can do to help reduce waste and increase recycling; find out more about climate change or get involved in the local nature recovery strategy.

A bike mechanic will be available to offer advice on bike maintenance and carry out basic repairs on the day free of charge.

Stephanie Jones, Communities and Partnerships officer at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “People attending the Youth Fusion events always tell us how much they enjoy the day, so bringing Youth Fusion to Isleham for the first time is a great opportunity for local young people to have some free fun this summer.

“With activities for young people aged 5 to 18, it’s guaranteed there will be something for everyone on the day.”

The Youth Fusion day will be held between 11am and 3pm. The site is fully accessible, and attendees are advised to take their own water bottles for refills on the day. Limited parking is available.

The events are being supported by a diverse range of organisations including East Cambridgeshire District Council, the fire service, East Anglian air ambulance, East Cambridgeshire Community Safety Partnership,

Fordham parish council and EMC bicycle repairs.
