Electric vehicle charging points in council car parks

East Cambridgeshire District Council will be installing 24 electric vehicle charging points across its district car parks from Tuesday 28 February.

The 7kW chargepoint units will be located at Barton Road Car Park and Newnham Street Car Park in Ely and Clay Street Car Park in Soham.

The council successfully applied to the Office for Zero Emissions for a grant under its On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme

The project is also supported by Connected Kerb, an electric vehicle infrastructure specialist, and the Energy Saving Trust.

Cllr Anna Bailey, leader of East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “At East Cambridgeshire District Council we are committed to creating a cleaner, greener East Cambridgeshire and have set ourselves the challenging target to become net carbon zero by 2040. This is just one of the many actions we are taking to help make that happen.”

The charging points will be available for public use by the end of March.
