Rivers and streams

Lots of different types of pollution can affect our rivers and streams from chemical spills and farming run-off to sewage and household waste.

Pollution in rivers and streams is harmful to the environment. It can:

  • kill fish and other aquatic life
  • affect biodiversity and amenity value
  • affect the use of water and land for agriculture

If you spot pollution and suspect it’s sewage Anglian Water will want to identify and investigate as quickly as possible.

Please call Anglian Water’s Pollution Hotline number 03457 145 145 to report any issues. Lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

You can also report an environmental incident on the Environment Agency’s website.
