Information on our Radar key procedures
Request received 14 October 2026
I am carrying out a survey of local authorities to ask questions about policies and Budgets for
RADAR keys - keys that allow access for disabled toilets.
It is my understanding that a number of councils who offer free RADAR keys on request are
reviewing their policy in light of applications shooting up.
Would you please set out your current policy and whether you still offer them for free? If not
when was this changed and why? Have you seen an increase and what has driven this - e.g.
higher number of claims linked to mental health.

The council does not offer free Radar keys; we charge £2.50 and require self-declaration or
proof of a permanent disability or health condition (such as a Blue Badge).
