Please find attached spreadsheets containing the information held by East Cambridgeshire District Council relevant to your request.
Litter Bin Records
East Cambridgeshire previously maintained litter bin records manually. Since the implementation of our new system, Bintuition, we now hold a more comprehensive and up to date record of litter bins across the district. The current system records approximately 749 litter bins, please see Attachment 1.
Each litter bin is assigned to a service zone based on the required emptying frequency:
• Zone 1: Daily emptying (typically high-footfall areas such as Ely and Littleport)
• Zones 2 and 3: Intermediate frequencies
• Zone 4: Typically emptied two to three times per week
Within Attachment 2, columns G and H detail the emptying frequency for each location. Please note that this spreadsheet contains records for 654 litter bins. As this dataset predates the implementation of Bintuition, it may not include bins that have since been installed, removed, or relocated.
Litter Bin Requests
Attachment 3 contains records of requests received for litter bins. It identifies whether each request resulted in the installation of a new bin, the replacement of an existing bin, or no action being taken. The spreadsheet includes the date of each request and its outcome, where recorded.
This dataset is not greatly up to date; some recent requests may not yet have been uploaded onto this spreadsheet or the finalised outcome of the request. This will hold a mixture of data from 2024/2025 and 2025/2026. Following the introduction of Bintuition, this system became the Council's primary and most accurate source of litter bin information. As a result, separate spreadsheet records are less maintained.
