Litter reports for Council owned / managed parks and open spaces since 2021
Request received 10 August 2026
For the period 1 January 2021 to 31 July 2026 inclusive, please provide the number of reports or service requests received concerning litter or rubbish in council-owned or council-managed parks and public open spaces.
Please provide the figures broken down by individual park/site and calendar year, ideally in the following format:
Park/site name | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 | 1 Jan–31 Jul 2026
Where your system already records whether the report relates specifically to a playground or children's play area, please also indicate this or provide the number of those reports separately.
Please use the park/site name and categories as they are recorded in your existing system. I am not asking the council to manually review free-text descriptions to determine whether an incident occurred within a playground.
Responded 25 August 2026
We do not separately record reports of litter or rubbish in council-owned or council-managed parks and public open spaces and therefore do not hold the information requested.
The Council considers that the requested information falls within the Environmental Information Regulations (“EIR”), which relate to information on activities affecting or likely to affect the elements and factors of the environment.
In respect of those requests that were answered in full or partially and the total refused please take this as notice under FOIA, that we:
a) Consider the information as exempt from disclosure under the Act;
b) Claim exempt under sections of the Act:
Section 12(4)(a) – Information Not Held
c) State why the exemption applies:
Regulation 12 (4) a public authority may refuse to disclose information to the extent that (a) it does not hold that information when an applicant’s request is received.
