An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Development Management Team at East Cambridgeshire District Council as a Planning Team Leader on a permanent basis. We are looking for a driven, systematic and dynamic individual with excellent management and people skills who wants to make a difference. 

With a diverse range of buildings and projects in the district, including internationally renowned heritage and environmental assets, new industrial, residential and retail proposals, there are wide-ranging areas of work to be enjoyed within this role. In this post you will be working in development management and will line manage three senior/planning officers, supporting staff in the assessment of applications and signing decisions, whilst supporting their personal development and ensuring an effective and efficient service is delivered to our customers.  In addition, you will have your own varied workload including a number of major developments across the District. 

The successful candidate must be well organised and self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure. You must have excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and the ability to contribute to a high-quality service to our customers. We would expect the successful candidate to have chartered membership (or be working towards) of the RTPI and experience of managing a planning application caseload of major planning applications for residential and commercial development.  

You will have experience of managing, coaching and mentoring a team of staff members and possess a confident manner when dealing with Elected Members, whilst being capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines.
