Executive Assistant to the Corporate Management Team

We are looking for an exceptional Executive Assistant to provide high-quality executive, administrative and organisational support to our Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team. This is a varied and influential role at the heart of the council, helping our senior leadership team operate effectively and ensuring that priorities, decisions and actions are well coordinated.

You will be a trusted and proactive point of coordination, managing complex diaries, meetings and competing priorities while supporting corporate governance, strategic planning, communications and key projects. You will work closely with senior officers, elected members, service managers, partners and external stakeholders, handling sensitive information with absolute discretion and professionalism.

What you will be doing

  • Providing comprehensive executive support to the Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team
  • Managing complex and frequently changing diaries, appointments and priorities
  • Coordinating meetings, briefings, workshops, away days and stakeholder events
  • Preparing agendas, reports, presentations, briefing notes and supporting materials
  • Recording decisions and actions accurately, maintaining action logs and following up progress
  • Supporting corporate governance, committee reporting, strategic priorities and key projects
  • Drafting professional correspondence and communications on behalf of senior officers
  • Maintaining effective records, document control and information management arrangements
  • Building strong working relationships across the council and with external partners
  • Identifying opportunities to improve administrative processes and digital ways of working

About you

You will have significant experience of providing executive or senior administrative support, ideally to senior leaders or a management team. Highly organised and confident managing competing demands, you will bring excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, concise briefings and records.

You will be proactive, calm under pressure and comfortable using your initiative. Sound judgement, integrity and discretion are essential, as is the ability to build trusted relationships with people at all levels. You will be confident using Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and experienced in using SharePoint or other document management systems. Experience of local government, the wider public sector or corporate project coordination would be an advantage.

The postholder will be required to maintain absolute confidentiality and exercise sound judgement and discretion at all times. Attendance at meetings or events outside standard working hours may occasionally be required, subject to business need. Business travel may also be required in accordance with council policies and procedures.
