Sound financial management lies at the centre of the East Cambridgeshire District Council’s corporate plan, and the Council prides itself on 12 consecutive years of freezing Council Tax and remaining debt free.

The Council is looking for a highly skilled and strategic Director of Finance and Section 151 Officer, to ensure the effective delivery of Council objectives in the field of finance and to also be the statutory Responsible Officer under Section 151 of the Local Government Act 1972.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will be a key member of the Council's Corporate Management Team and you will play a major role in the leadership of the organisation, working with senior colleagues across the organisation to ensure sound financial planning and controls underpin our work. You will also be a key point of contact for elected members, ensuring that key decisions are informed by high quality financial reporting and advice, and that risk is managed effectively.

As the Statutory S151 Officer, it is essential that you are a qualified accountant, and that you can demonstrate proven senior management experience in a comparable setting. It is important that you can quickly build trust and confidence with stakeholders across the organisation and that you can bring a pragmatic and solutions focused approach to budget challenges. With a strong values-based approach, you will be committed to public service and making the very best use of our resources on behalf of our communities.
