We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our Finance Team
In this role, you will play a key part in delivering an efficient and effective financial service to both the council and its Trading Company. You will provide essential administrative support across the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, helping to ensure the smooth operation of day-to-day financial processes.
Key responsibilities
- processing supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- raising customer invoices and maintaining financial records
- administering Direct Debit collections and BACS payment runs
- reconciling supplier and customer statements
- allocating incoming payments and receipts
- monitoring and responding to finance-related email enquiries
- dealing with finance queries from members of the public and council departments
- supporting the administration and maintenance of the council's accounting systems
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- a minimum of four GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above
- good IT skills and confidence using computerised systems
- strong numeracy and administrative abilities
- excellent communication and customer service skills
- a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a busy environment
