Supporting notes for the fraud dataset

  1. We have not used powers under the Prevention of Social Housing Fraud (Power to Require Information) (England) Regulations 2014 or similar powers as we do not hold any housing stock.
  2. We are part of a Local Authority Revenue and Benefits Partnership consisting of 4 partners. There are a total of 8 employees across the partnership undertaking investigations and prosecutions for fraud which equates to 1.5 FTE (full time employee) for this council. 
  3. There are a total of 7 employees across the partnership who are professionally accredited counter-fraud specialists which equates to 1.25 FTE for this council.
  4. The amount spent by us on the investigation and prosecution of fraud is included within the overall cost we pay to the partnership.
  5. This represents the number of fraud cases referred for investigation NOT the number of investigations which resulted in a sanction being applied.
