Want help cleaning up your neighbourhood

Communities looking to clean up their local area in East Cambridgeshire can call on the District Council for all the equipment they need to do the work.

The Waste and Recycling team have kits of rubbish bags, gloves, litter pickers and high visibility jackets available for Parish Councils, voluntary organisations and community groups to use.

In recent months areas of Soham, Wicken and Fordham have all benefitted from local people coming together to tidy up commons, cemeteries and play areas.

Dave White, Waste Strategy Team Leader at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “Everyone likes to live a nice, clean neighbourhood but unfortunately the ravages of time, the remoteness of locations or the actions of a mindless few create a false impression of an area. This is why many local people from Parish Councils to community groups have got in touch to borrow our litter picking kits.

“We provide rubbish bags, gloves, litter pickers and high visibility jackets as well arranging for the bags to be collected. So if you are looking to tidy up your local patch please give us a call and we will help as much as we can.”
