Coronavirus: Changes to our Services

Our focus and actions will remain aligned with national advice. We are putting in place contingency plans to address the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on our services.

We remain open for business and as the situation develops we will continue to change and adapt our services.

We will keep this page up to date with news of any changes to our services.

Building Control

Requests for site inspections are being accepted and risk assessed on an individual basis.

Committee Meetings

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, Council and Committee meetings are currently being conducted remotely using the Zoom video conferencing facility. Please see the individual Agendas in Council Meetings for further information.

Leisure Centres

The Hive Leisure Centre is closed until further notice.  For more information visit The Hive Leisure Centre.

Ely Markets will open again on Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 June 2020. Not all our usual stalls will be here from the start, traders will return in phases, with essential food stalls opening first.  We will introduce social distancing and other safety measures to help protect everyone in the Market Place.

The Planning Team have updated their contact details, please see the Planning Team page and Applying for Permission for more information.

Play Areas

In line with strict Government guidelines on social distancing to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, ALL play areas have been closed.

Public Toilets

The public toilets at Ship Lane and Palace Green in Ely have been closed in order to minimise staffing requirements during the lock down period.  The toilets at Cloisters and Barton Road remain open.

The Council Reception is closed to the Public. As a Council we are committed to keeping our services available but we need to work with the community to slow the spread of the disease.  To do this we want to avoid face to face contact wherever we can to protect our customers and our staff.
We ask all customers to access services via our website where possible, or to contact us by telephone or email. Most enquiries can be resolved over the telephone or online. However, if we agree you need to see us, we will arrange an appointment.
