This Easter, visitors to Ely will be able to enjoy all about the history and beauty of Ely

There will also be a number of walking tours taking place across Easter:

  • Easter Saturday 19 April at 11.30am - Ely’s Monastic Walk. Discover and explore the grounds of the largest group of medieval monastic buildings still in use today and listen to tales of monks and royalty. All tickets £3.50
  • Easter Sunday 20 April at 11.30am - Ely Tales Walk. Learn about the beautiful medieval city via the characters themselves - hear how a Roundhead, Stone Mason and Pilgrim to name but a few, shaped Ely’s history in this entertaining guided walk with costumed characters around the city centre. All tickets £6.00 
  • Easter Monday 21st April at 11.30am - Ely’s Heritage Eel Walk. Discover the importance of the Eel trade and how it shaped the history of Ely and marvel at the artworks connected to our Eel Heritage along the way. All tickets £3.50.

Aileen Sharp, Tourism Development Officer at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "Visitors to Ely this Easter have learnt about how Easter was celebrated by the Cromwells and how life changed under the rule of the Lord Protector. We have now organised a number of our guided walks so people can see some of the hidden treasures of Ely as well as find out more about some of our historic buildings. As always, there is a lot to do on a visit to Ely and we look forward to welcoming many visitors to our wonderful city this Easter."
