A blueprint for the future growth of East Cambridgeshire is set to go out to consultation again following comments from the Planning Inspector regarding the district's housing supply.

The revised document will allow residents, businesses and others to have their say on the proposed modifications to the Local Plan including additional housing sites in Soham.

The special consultation period will last from Wednesday 10 September to Wednesday 22 October.

During this time there will be a public exhibition at the Walter Gidney Pavilion, Fountain Lane, Soham on Wednesday 17 September from 4pm - 7pm where additional housing allocations are being proposed to give people the opportunity to come, view and comment on the proposals.

The Schedule of Modifications (along with all the supporting documents) are available at www.eastcambs.gov.uk or can be viewed at the District Council offices, 8.45am - 5pm Mondays to Thursdays, and 9am to 4.30pm on Fridays.

Cllr Tom Hunt, Strategic Planning member champion, said: "Our latest Local Plan consultation follows feedback from the Planning Inspector on the document we submitted to him earlier this year. The Inspector asked for the authority to look again at certain areas - the most significant of these changes relate to the inclusion of additional housing sites in Soham.

"I would encourage you to take the time to look at the proposed changes and give your thoughts and comments to help to shape the future development of the district. The Inspector will consider all comments received in relation to the Council's proposed modifications prior to issuing final recommendations in a final report - so this is your time to make a difference."

The Local Plan looks at how much, where and when development should take place. It seeks to ensure development in the district is 'sustainable' by meeting the needs of the area.
